Christian Purslow has sat down with VillaTV for a wide-ranging interview on the eve of the eagerly-anticipated resumption of Premier League football.
Aston Villa’s Chief Executive discussed the Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’, playing behind closed doors, the Black Lives Matter movement and his pledge to make sure the club is representative of the most ethnically diverse city in the UK. You can watch the full interview here.
Mr Purslow is looking forward to having the eyes of the world on Villa Park as the top-flight resumes on Wednesday night, and he firmly believes Dean Smith’s side can secure another season in the Premier League.
He said: “I think there’s a huge sense of destiny around the team. We signed up for a 38-game season, home and away, and we were curtailed at the 28-game moment with everything to play for.
“We’d been in a poor run of form up to being shut down. I think that’s given players a chance to work in a much less pressured, much more time-rich environment one-on-one with Dean and his coaches on technical aspects.
“Obviously having to get used to some physical training as well on your own, which has been difficult, but in total it’s given all of our players a chance to really evaluate themselves.
“It’s given our coaches the chance to evaluate the first 28 games and I hope that gives them the best possible opportunity to come again and end the season really strongly and cement our position in the Premier League, which, obviously, everybody connected with Aston Villa desperately would like to see happen.”
