The draw has now taken place for the upcoming Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament.
Villa will face German side Bayern Leverkusen, Hong Kong Football Association U23 and Singapore Cricket Club in Group C.
German outfit Leverkusen are one of three debutants from Europe, with Marseille and Cagliari Calcio becoming the first teams from France and Italy respectively to feature at an annual event that now has an even greater international flavour.
The tournament takes place between May 26 and May 28.
Villa have a rich history in the Soccer Sevens, having lifted the trophy in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010 and most recently last season.
Harry McKirdy was named top-scorer in 2016 while skipper Khalid Abdo was player of the tournament.
The likes of Jack Grealish, Marc Albrighton, Gabby Agbonlahor and Barry Bannan have all have starred for Villa in past editions of the event.
Elsewhere, West Ham, who Villa saw off in the final last time out take on Kitchee, Yau Yee League Select as well as Marseille.
In 2015, Atletico Madrid became the first Spanish side to appear at the tournament as they made their debut in style by lifting the Cup following a thrilling 3-2 win over West Ham after extra-time in the final.
