Ashley Westwood says there are plenty of reasons to feel optimistic following Saturday's display at West Ham.
Villa recorded a hard-fought goalless draw in East London to end a run of six straight defeats.
The scoreline does not tell the full story though as both sides had opportunities to find the back of the net.
And Westwood believes recent performances - including last weekend's narrow defeat to Spurs - suggest it's only a matter of time before Paul Lambert's men return to winning ways.
He said: "It was a real big point. The way we defended was good and we had chances to win it so it wasn't all backs to the wall. We could've taken all three points.
"It was a massive point. It's a tough place to come. They're on the back of a good run. We needed to pick points up and I thought we were tremendous.
"We created chances so that's not on our minds. We've got enough goals in the team. It's now about working hard during the international break, sticking together and everything will come right.
"In the game against Spurs last week we did very well and again at West Ham so things are looking better."
The claret and blue midfielder also reserved special praise for team-mates Brad Guzan and Carlos Sanchez.
Columbian Sanchez enjoyed another solid afternoon in the heart of the pitch against the Irons while goalkeeper Guzan's last-gasp save from an Andy Carroll header ensured a happy trip home for Villa.
He added: "Brad has been tremendous for us for the last few years now.
"He made saves last week and made a great save at the end of the game. He's full of confidence.
"He came out at the end of the game and cleared the blocks which is what you want from your 'keeper when you're under the cosh.
"He took everything and it helped earn a point in the end.
"Hopefully Carlos can keep improving and keep showing what he did in the World Cup with Columbia. We've got a good player on our hands."
