As Lambert said in his post-match press conference, it was a tight game and one Villa really should have earned a point from.
Chris Baird flicked home a corner near the end but, even then, Villa had a chance to level, only for Christian Benteke to fire wide.
Lambert stressed the need to bounce back after the game and he will certainly be looking for a positive reaction when the team face Norwich on Saturday.
