The Sun: ASTON VILLA hitman Juan Pablo Angel is still being tracked by Real Betis, according to his agent Fernando Hidalgo. But any deal could hinge on whether new Villa manager David O'Leary is able to permanently sign Real Betis midfielder Joey Gudjonsson.

icbirmingham: Villa's Juan Pablo Angel is still wanted by Spanish club Real Betis, it was claimed today. Angel's representative, Fernando Hidalgo, has met Betis and been told his client is still wanted by the Spaniards, despite noises to the contrary. But Hidalgo has also been made aware that Bayern Munich's Brazilian striker Giovanni Elber is the priority target.

Planetfootball: PLANETFOOTBALL.COM understand that Aston Villa are in talks to sign Czech Republic starlet Zdenek Grygera and are hoping to beat Italian champions Juventus to his signature. The 23-year-old is rated as one of country's best young players and he is already a firm fixture in the national side with 12 caps. He is a quick and intelligent right sided player, who can play in either defence or midfield - but he is used mainly as a full back by his club Sparta Prague, notching up nearly 200 appearances for them since arriving in 2000. Juventus superstar Pavel Nedved is a firm fan of Grygera and has tipped off his club about his fellow countryman. The Old Lady took Nedved's recommendation very seriously and have held talks in the last few weeks with Sparta, after making their own checks on him. Arsenal were also credited with an interest in April this year, after Grygera caught their eye playing for the Czech Republic. However, Villa now look to be very much at the front of the queue and David O'Leary is looking to make him his first signing since taking charge at the Birmingham club.
