Nicolas Jackson was pleased to have notched his first Premier League goal in claret and blue on Saturday, as Aston Villa came away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.

The Villans secured their first league victory of the season in North London, Jackson’s sweet strike putting his side 2-0 up in an eventual 3-2 triumph.

And the Senegal international spoke of his delight after the game, discussing the finish and a neat first touch to set himself.

Jackson said: “I’m very happy. I got my first (Premier League) goal (since) 2024 (season), so I’m very happy to be back and playing in the Premier League again.

“I was being careful, because I just had a yellow card before, but I just tried to touch a little bit and tried finish as quick as possible.

“That touch helped me to finish quickly and set my angle to finish as quick as possible.

With Jackson among a host of new players still settling in having arrived in the summer, the striker insists there is still a lot more to come from he and his teammates this season.

He reiterated how happy he is to be a Villan, and how important it is for everyone to continue working hard in order to achieve their objectives.

“We have a long way to go,” the 25-year-old added.

“We’re just starting one month ago with new players, so we’re just trying to build. Hopefully, we get the results we want and keep working hard as we keep doing.

“We were in control. Spurs have good players and (they’re) an amazing team.

“It’s difficult when you come away and try to win games. That’s what we did, so we’re very happy we did it. We just keep working and trying to win the games that are coming.

“I’m very happy to come here and be here. I’m with the coach that I want to be (with) and the team where I want to be, so I’m very happy to be here.”
