João Gomes returned to Aston Villa’s starting XI for Saturday’s Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur while there was also a full debut for Johan Manzambi.
Midfielder Gomes completed his three-match suspension having been sent off at Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend of the season.
He returned to Villa’s line-up for the lunchtime kick-off in the capital, as fit-again Manzambi also made his first start for the club following two substitute appearances.
In total, Unai Emery made seven changes from Wednesday’s Carabao Cup triumph at Coventry City.
Zion Suzuki, Victor Lindelöf, Boubacar Kamara, Emi Buendía and Nicolas Jackson also returned to face Spurs.
Goalkeeper James Wright was named among the substitutes, alongside Matty Cash and Taylor Harwood-Bellis for the encounter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
