Matty Cash is looking forward to facing one of the best teams in the world when Aston Villa go head-to-head with Bayern Munich in Hong Kong.
The match at the stunning Kai Tak Stadium represents the team’s final pre-season friendly before competitive action begins against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup next week.
And Cash believes a game against the Bundesliga champions is the perfect preparation for future challenges.
“It will be a tough challenge,” he said.
“They’re probably one of the best teams in the world at the minute, so it’s a great test for us.
“It’ll be really good; it’s another strong opponent. We’re looking forward to it and hopefully it will set us up nicely going into the PSG game.”
Following victories in Jakarta and Bangkok, Villa have now got five pre-season games under their belts.
Intense training sessions in Asia have also helped to build fitness levels, while being on tour has offered a chance for players to connect off the pitch.
Cash reflected: “It’s been really good, really hot, and everywhere we’ve been has been tough conditions but really enjoyable, experiencing different cultures in Jakarta, Bangkok and now Hong Kong.
“It’s been really good and hopefully we can finish it off with a nice game tomorrow.”
“We’re spending a lot of time together, eating every meal together. We’ve not had a lot of free time because we’ve been travelling and training,” he added.
“We’ve been team bonding because we’ve had a lot of changes this year, with players going and new players coming in.
“It’s good to see them settle in and we’re looking forward to another strong season.”
The Villans have also felt the love of fans from across the continent on tour, with passion for the claret and blue a running theme throughout.
Cash has enjoyed the chance to play in front of supporters in Indonesia, Thailand and now Hong Kong.
“A lot of people don’t get the chance to come over to England and watch us at Villa Park, so it’s nice to come over to this part of the world and meet them,” he said.
“It gives them a chance to watch us train or watch us play. It’s always great to meet Villa fans. It’s such a big club that everywhere you go there are fans everywhere.”
