Aston Villa captain John McGinn has registered his 300th appearance for the club.
The midfielder reached the milestone in Thursday night’s 2-0 UEFA Europa League victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv at Villa Park, introduced as a second-half substitute in the 75th minute.
McGinn becomes only the 36th player in the club’s history to reach the 300 landmark.
The Scotland international put pen to paper on a new deal on Wednesday, admitting it was “the easiest contract I've ever had to sign”.
The Villa skipper, a leader on and off the pitch, joined from Hibernian seven years ago and has been an integral part of the club's rise from the Championship to the Champions League.
Making his debut against Wigan Athletic in August 2018 and immediately endearing himself to supporters, his first goal in claret and blue was a truly memorable volley off the underside of the crossbar against Sheffield Wednesday just over a month later.
McGinn played a crucial role in Villa’s promotion to the top flight in 2019, netting the winner in our play-off final success over Derby County at Wembley.
He’s gone on to become a key component in three successive top-seven finishes in the Premier League, enjoying impressive performances and memorable matches at Villa Park, further afield in England and Europe.
The Scotland international, who has 81 caps to his name, also sits fifth on his country's list of all-time goalscorers.
Stay tuned for a host of further content celebrating McGinn’s induction into the 300 club.
