Unai Emery admitted Sunday’s 4-4 draw at Manchester United was a difficult result to accept.

The Villans were 4-2 up heading into stoppage time at Old Trafford in Emery’s 200th Premier League game, but late goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Patrick Dorgu saw the spoils shared.

Emery was pleased with his team’s performance, but lamented the late goals Villa conceded.

Speaking to VillaTV after the match, he said: “It’s difficult to accept this result because we were winning 4-2 in extra-time and how we conceded two goals is really painful.

“But it’s a new experience for us, and some players as well, they must adapt to us, how difficult the Premier League is.

“How we played 90 minutes, the first half starting very well, scoring two goals, we conceded two goals and they were pushing us, they were creating chances and we were resilient in the first half.

“The second half, we started very good, scoring two goals, and then we could control the game like we planned in the first half in the dressing room, better than the first half, we did.

“There are very good things, but the last six minutes was really getting us upset, how we conceded those two goals, but as well, it’s something we have to try to correct as quick as possible.”

With Villa now out of action for two weeks while they pause for the November international break, Emery took out a wider assessment on his side’s season so far and current form.

The Spaniard hopes his players can return from duty with their national teams strong, as they approach the winter period.

“We are now with the last six matches in Premier League, winning three, drawing three, we are I think getting better,” Emery added.

“But today, we have lost a very good opportunity to add two points more.

“Now, the break, rest here, and try to come back in 10 days strong again.”
