Youri Tielemans insists Aston Villa must be focused on the task at hand, as they prepare to welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Villa Park on Sunday.
Unai Emery’s men lock horns with Spurs in their penultimate home league game of the campaign, sitting fifth in the standings with four outings left to play.
And, after consecutive defeats at the hands of Fulham last weekend and Nottingham Forest in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Tielemans is keen to ensure there are no further slip-ups, as the Villans aim to secure their Champions League spot for next season.
The Belgian midfielder said: “Last weekend wasn’t our best game, but we’ve still got a few games to go, and it can’t go wrong for us now.
“We just need to be focused and move on from (the) last game, just perform well in the Europa League and the league and secure that Champions League spot.”
With Roberto De Zerbi’s side entering the affair in the relegation zone, Tielemans was unmoved when asked about the form of Sunday’s visitors.
The 28-year-old stressed the importance of the Villans concentrating on their own work regardless of their opponents.
He added: “I think it’s all about us. Players especially, we just want to win the game, regardless of the opponent, so that’s going to be down to us.”
