Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, Marco Bizot and Victor Lindelöf delighted supporters in Hong Kong when they attended an event laid on by our Official Global Partner Guinness.
The trio took to the stage at the Cordis hotel in the heart of the city and were greeted by a passionate crowd of Villans, engaging in an entertaining evening that celebrated the connections between the club and its incredible fans.
A Q&A saw the players praise the club’s growing fanbase across Asia and the support they’ve received in Indonesia, Thailand and now Hong Kong.
“First of all, I’d like to say thank you for your support. It means a lot to me and everyone at the club,” Lindelöf said.
“It’s so nice to be here and to meet everyone. It’s great to have such a big fan base here.”
As well as addressing fans and taking pictures with supporters, the players took part in a challenge to pour the perfect pint of Guinness.
It concluded an evening of claret and blue celebration that left a positive mark on everyone present.
Bizot said: “It’s amazing to experience so many different cultures and meet so many different people.
“The support we have all around the world is absolutely fantastic.
“It’s a fantastic club with a fantastic fan base and I’ve never experienced being welcomed to a club as fast as I have at Villa.
“Thank you to our supporters.”
Many of the Villans who attended the event will be heading to Kai Tak Stadium on Friday to see Unai Emery’s men take on Bayern Munich.
It’s the third and final game of our Asia Tour, helping to prepare the team for what lies ahead.
“We’ve got a massive season coming up. Last year we had a really great year,” commented Cash.
“Hopefully we can keep building as a club, and, personally, that I can keep doing the best I can.”
