Villa come so close on proud night

Aston Villa’s UEFA Champions League journey came to a dramatic conclusion as they bowed out against Paris Saint-Germain following a pulsating night of action at Villa Park.

Following two PSG goals inside the opening 27 minutes, the hosts found themselves 5-1 down on aggregate and firmly on the back foot.

But Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa all found the net to put Unai Emery’s side within touching distance, driven on by the backing of a passionate claret and blue faithful.

However, it was not to be as, despite Villa emerging victorious on the night, it was the French champions who prevailed 5-4 to book their place in the semi-finals.
