Aston Villa Women will look for a first win of the 2026/27 Women's Super League season when Liverpool visit Keys Park on Sunday afternoon (ko 2pm).

Brian Sørensen's side took the lead against newly promoted Crystal Palace in their last outing before the international break but were ultimately held to a 1-1 draw.

They will now strive to secure a maiden league win in Hednesford as another busy block of fixtures gets under way.

The Opposition

Visitors Liverpool have made a mixed start to boss Gareth Taylor's second season in charge, picking up two wins, two defeats and a draw so far.

Though that seven point return from the opening five games lies in stark contrast to 2025/26, when they lost their opening six league games to fall into relegation worry.

This time round the Reds are in confident mood, and will be further encouraged by the strong starts of summer signings Vivien Endemann, Natalia Ramos and Khiara Keating.

German international Endemann is proving the danger woman in the side's front line, having registered four goal contributions across her first four WSL appearances.

What Do The Stats Say?

  • Villa defender Noelle Maritz’s goal against Crystal Palace last time out was her first ever strike in the WSL on what was her 109th appearance.
  • Midfielder Miri Taylor created the most chances of any player in that 1-1 draw with the Eagles (4).
  • Aston Villa (25y 199d) and Liverpool (25y 283d) have fielded the two youngest starting XIs on average in the WSL this season.
  • Aston Villa were victorious the last time they hosted Liverpool in the WSL, running out 3-0 winners at Villa Park last December.

The Last Meeting

Aston Villa cruised to a 3-0 victory in their last meeting with Liverpool in the West Midlands.

Captain Rachel Daly took advantage of a mix up in the visitors' defence to open the scoring after just 27 seconds and claim her first goal of the season.

Kirsty Hanson added the cushion of a second for Villa just shy of the half hour mark, thumping home a low finish from a Chasity Grant cross.

With a quarter of an hour to go Daly doubled her tally on the evening, pouncing to tap home on the rebound to finish off a wonderful home win.

The Presser: Thoughts from Interim Head Coach Sørensen
