Aston Villa Women welcome Manchester United in gameweek nine of the Women's Super League on Sunday afternoon.

The Villans are on a seven-game unbeaten streak across league and cup, taking a point from their previous league outing at Arsenal last weekend.

Player of the Match Chasity Grant scored the opener in the first half but the away side were denied all three points by a late Gunners equaliser.

Nevertheless the confidence is high ahead of the Red Devils' arrival in B6.

The Opposition

After a tricky start to the season under new boss Eva Olid, Manchester United have well and truly hit their stride.

The Red Devils have won seven and drawn two of their last nine games across all competitions, and risen up to fifth spot in the league table.

That run saw them claim impressive points away at Arsenal and at home to reigning champions Manchester City, however they were held to a goalless draw by Everton at Goodison Park last week.

Tickets for our meeting with the Red Devils at Villa Park on Sunday are still available to purchase for both sets of supporters.

Head to tickets.avfc.co.uk now to purchase online, or alternatively head to the Villa Park Ticket Office on matchday, located next to the Villa Store, on matchday, from 10am until kick-off.

What Do The Stats Say?

  • Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last four WSL games (W2 D2), their longest run without defeat since between September and November 2025 (5).
  • Aston Villa have scored with their first shot in three of their eight WSL games this season, including both of their last two against Everton and Arsenal.
  • The Villans have the highest shot conversion rate in the competition this term (18.2%), scoring 10 goals from just 55 attempts.
  • Manchester United are unbeaten in their last six Women’s Super League matches (W3 D3), after losing their opening two of the season.
  • Manchester United have taken 12 points from an Expected Points (xP) total of just eight in the WSL this season. Only Manchester City (+6, 22 vs 16 xP) and Aston Villa (+5, 10 vs 5 xP) have exceeded their xP by more than the Red Devils (+4).

The Last Meeting

Manchester United claimed the three points in our last meeting at Villa Park back in January.

Kirsty Hanson produced a timely equaliser to cancel out Julia Zigiotti Olme's opener to send the sides into the break all square.

However a second half surge from the visitors decided the contes. Elisabeth Terland, Hanna Lundkvist and Jess Park all found the net in the final 20 minutes to sweep aside the injury-depleted hosts.

The Presser: Thoughts from Interim Head Coach Sørensen
