Paul Lambert believes Christian Benteke will roar back soon.
Pundit Jamie Redknapp claimed this week that Benteke had lost his lion-like predatory instincts over the past few matches.
But Lambert insists that Benteke will return to his position as king of the claret and blue striking pack very soon.
Lambert thinks Benteke was in ferocious form last term - and the start of this campaign - because belief was sky-high.
He accepts this vital factor has dropped off over the past few weeks but he says the forward has not been helped by niggling fitness problems.
But he thinks Benteke will come good very soon and show his killer instinct in the Barclays Premier League once again.
He said: "The kid is just going through a hard time. He will come back from it. He may not realise that now.
"It's all been well documented. He's a young lad. He will go through spells - I bet you any money he will have another one like this in his career.
"He had a monumental start. He is finding it a little hard at the minute.
"He's been carrying little knocks which haven't helped.
"It's not that he isn't trying. I have never known a footballer not trying. It might be he's lacking confidence and things not going his way. That's because he set such a high standard.
"Ask any footballer, if you're confident you will do things off the cuff. You won't think about it. He's trying too hard, trying to impress.
"The little knocks that he's been carrying aren't helping him. My job is to try and rectify that.
"Knocks hinder you at the best of times. He is not playing as well as he might have been. But they are taking their toll.
"When he's on it, though, he's an imposing figure. There's no two ways about it.
"He's having a hard time because things aren't going his way."
