Everybody’s Game with the Aston Villa Foundation

Everybody’s Game is designed to bring more inclusive opportunities for British South Asian communities and Women and Girls to get involved across mainstream football, either as players, volunteers, coaches or referees. The initiative is funded by the Premier League, the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) and Islamic Relief.

Our Work with British South Asian Communities

One aim of the project, facilitated by the Aston Villa Foundation, looks at developing the strength and skills of coaches and supporting the network of grassroots-level British South Asian-led clubs and community groups.

Our Work with Women and Girls

The project also looks to encourage more female players and coaches into the game, increasing participation in the sport at grassroots level and provide greater opportunities of engagement and development for women and girls from all backgrounds in football.

girls playing football

‘’I had a great morning having coached my first girls’ team through the Everybody’s Game Women and Girls Festival. It was amazing to see how well my team played and how much they respected other teams even when they disagreed with something. I loved how the Aston Villa Foundation Coaches played games with the girls as ice breakers and I learnt from them by way of just watching how they communicated with the girls. It was great to interact with other coaches as well and pick up on their approaches. I even made a contact and that's what it's about for me. I can't wait to be able to go to the next one, hopefully with more girls.”

Participant

The initiative will support participants from both avenues of the programme to become well-governed organisations with a strong volunteering workforce, as well as helping to manage their governance in terms of policies, procedures and finances – ultimately helping them to become sustainable football organisations that can create new opportunities and pathways for British South Asian players and coaches.
