Alan Hutton says there's an upbeat mood in camp already after the squad stepped up preparations for the new campaign at pre-season camp in Portugal.
The Scot, who signed a new one-year contract extension at Villa Park last month, was eager to get back to business upon penning his new deal, and is loving being back among the team again.
He said: "I couldn't wait to get back to it and arrive for pre-season.
"Once my contract was sorted, all my focus was on the new campaign and coming back stronger again.
"I love being here and there's already a upbeat mood in camp as we build towards a new term. I’m ready to give my all once again.”
Hutton also says that although he and team-mates have stayed in good shape this summer, camp has already provided them with a stern physical test.
He added: "The first day of pre-season is always a challenge that requires players to dig deep, but we've all come through a double session on day one.
“There’s a good mix of senior players and youngsters who will have a real opportunity this year and we’re all desperate to do well.
"We'll now continue to work hard over the weekend and make the most of our time together in order to get things right for the upcoming friendlies and beyond.”
