Aston Villa captured the signature of Sil Swinkels in the summer of 2020. The defender has excelled at previous clubs Brabant FC and Vitesse Arnheim. 

Swinkels has earned international recognition at age-group level, winning two caps for the Netherlands U15s. The versatile Dutchman made his debut for the club in January 2021, coming on as a substitute in an FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool. 

He also starred in the heart of defence as Aston Villa won the FA Youth Cup to cap his debut season at the club.
