Bio
Tyrone Mings has become synonymous with Aston Villa since joining the club in January 2019. The defender has made over 200 appearances in claret and blue, making key contributions as the club have risen from the Championship to the upper echelons of the Premier League.
Having initially signed on loan, Mings played a crucial role as the club were promoted from the second tier before joining permanently that summer. An England debut followed soon after and Mings was included in Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2020 European Championship on the back of a stellar 2020/21 campaign.
Mings has risen from non-league to become an England international. The Bath-born defender began his career at Yate Town and Chippenham Town before a move to Ipswich Town provided his big break. A switch to Bournemouth in 2015 saw him make his Premier League debut, and he spent four years with the Cherries before moving to the Midlands.
The opening day of the 2023/24 season saw him pick up a long-term anterior cruciate ligament injury, keeping him sidelined for over a year. He made his long-awaited return to action in October 2024, starting in Villa's Carabao Cup fourth-round meeting with Crystal Palace at Villa Park to a rousing reception from the B6 faithful.
Mings would go on to make a total of 21 appearances in all competitions during 2024/25, including four in the UEFA Champions League, as Villa secured European football for a third successive season. The commanding centre-back signed a contract extension with the club in June 2025.
