Nathan Baker started the 2015/16 season by signing a new four year contract with Villa.
Baker put pen to paper on the contract in July 2015.
However, it wasn’t long before he was sent out on loan as Bristol City came calling.
The whole-hearted centre-half joined the Ashton Gate side on a season-long loan and helped them to 18th place in the 24-team Championship division.
Rated very highly by former City boss Steve Cotterill, Baker further impressed John Pemberton on his arrival in January 2016, forging a formidable partnership with Aden Flint in a flat back four as the Robins moved clear of the relegation zone and out of trouble.
It’s been progress for Baker, who endured an injury-hit 2014/15 season.
The self-confessed quiet man, who could also have had a career in rugby, is a product of our academy system.
He joined the club as a 13-year-old and made his first team debut in January 2011.
