Bio

Matty Cash joined Aston Villa from Nottingham Forest in September 2020. The full-back quickly made a name for himself in claret and blue with his tough tackling and driving runs forward.

Cash made 28 appearances in his first season at the club, all in the Premier League, as he established himself as the first-choice right-back. Cash went up a level in 2021/22, scooping the club's Supporters' Player of the Year award after starting all 38 Premier League games. Injuries restricted the full-back to 28 appearances in all competitions in 2022/23.

He enjoyed 46 outings in all competitions during 2023/24, finding the net four times, before helping Villa reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2024/25, as the club secured European football for a third successive season.

Cash scored his maiden goal for the club against Everton in September 2021. One month later, the defender announced he had obtained Polish citizenship and subsequently made his international debut for Poland.

He represented his nation at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, starting all four matches as Poland reached the Round of 16 before bowing out to eventual finalists France.

The versatile Cash made his professional debut while on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge, during a 0-0 draw against Carlisle United in League Two in March 2016. He scored his first professional goal four days later. Cash enjoyed six years with the Forest before making the move to Villa Park.
