Micah Richards joined Villa on a four year deal in July 2015.
He signed from Manchester City, who he had been with since the age of 14.
The bubbly defender had a mixed season in claret and blue – beginning as captain but ending out of the side as Eric Black preferred the likes of Joleon Lescott, Ciaran Clark and Kevin Toner in the heart of the defence – with Alan Hutton starting at right-back.
He played regularly – barring injury or being rested – up until March 2016.
But then he was mainly handed a watching brief by acting boss Black, although he did start games against Chelsea and Southampton in that period, as well as coming on in the final match of the term at Arsenal.
The versatile defender made his name at Man City, after progressing through the club's academy.
Richards joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan in September 2014 and subsequently became a Villan when his City contract expired.
