Mile Jedinak joined Villa in August 2016 after a five-year spell at Crystal Palace.

Jedinak became Roberto Di Matteo’s sixth signing of a very busy summer, following in the footsteps of Tommy Elphick, Pierluigi Gollini, Aaron Tshibola, Ross McCormack and James Chester.

He joined Palace from Turkish club Gençlerbirliği in July 2011 and the combative midfielder quickly became a key member of the Eagles squad.

He first pulled on the captain's armband at the start of the 2012/13 season and was skipper throughout his time at Selhurst Park.

Jedinak earned the club's Player of the Year award at the end of the 2012/13 season and won promotion to the Premier League after climbing the Wembley steps to hoist the Championship play-off trophy.

It capped an incredible first two years in England for the tough tackling player, who came to these shores as a relative unknown.

After starting his career in his native Australia with Sydney United, the central midfielder made 82 league appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals, before moving to Central Coast Mariners.

A three-year spell at the club saw Jedinak score eight goals in 45 appearances and he helped the club to a Premier Plate in the 2007/08 season of the A-League before deciding to continue his career in Turkey with Gençlerbirliği.

After joining Palace and earning promotion to the top-flight, Jedinak came close to playing every minute of Palace's 2013/14 Premier League season - a rarity for an outfield player - but injured himself in the second half of the 2–2 draw with Fulham on the final day.

Jedinak was actually named the fifth-best player in Europe, the best midfielder in Europe and the best player in the Premier League after the first three months of the 2014/15 season, based on Opta performance statistics.

His superb freekick in a 3–1 win over Liverpool in November 2014 was voted Goal of the Season at the 2015 Crystal Palace awards night.

Jedinak made 35 appearances for the Eagles in 2015/16 and was a losing finalist in the FA Cup as they went down 2-1 to Man Utd.

The popular star is also skipper of Australia, having made himself an intregal part of the set-up since making his international debut in 2008.
