Jordan Veretout had a stop-start campaign in claret and blue after arriving in B6 in July 2015.
He impressed on his competitive debut in Villa's 2015/16 opening day win at Bournemouth - playing 71 minutes.
Veretout was in and out of the side throughout the term, as injuries hit home at several stages in the season.
He missed the final two games with a hip problem but still clocked up 29 appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old joined us from Ligue 1 club Nantes - his home club since 2003.
The highly-rated midfielder made his professional debut for Nantes in a league match against Sedan in May 2011.
He made his first start the following season in the team's opening match of the campaign - a 1-0 extra time win over Reims in the Coupe de la Ligue.
Veretout racked up over 150 appearances for Nantes over a five-year spell.
Veretout is a France youth international, having represented his country at U18-U21 levels, including winning the U20 World Cup alongside the likes of Paul Pogba.
He was the fourth player to arrive in B6 from Ligue 1 in the summer of 2015 after Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Ayew.
