Jonathan Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City in August 2016.

He penned a four-year contract.

Kodjia scored 20 goals in 48 appearances for the Ashton Gate outfit last season, his maiden campaign in English football.

In 2016/17, Kodjia netted a quartet of braces, including one in a 4-2 defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrew's.

His other three doubles came in wins for City, all of which were in the second half of the Championship season just after Lee Johnson was appointed as manager.

In his younger days, Kodjia started out at French side Ream and enjoyed loan spells at Cherbourg, Amiens and Caen.

He then moved to Anges, scoring an impressive 15 goals in 28 appearances.

The Paris-born striker’s family hail from the Ivory Coast.

Kodjia was called up to the Elephants’ squad for the first time in May 2016 after a prosperous debut season in English football, and netted his first international goal in Ivory Coast’s 2-1 win over Gabon.
