World Cup Villans

World Cup Villans

On this day in 1966, Villa Park hosted World Cup football for the first time.

Selected as one of the venues for England’s staging of the tournament, Villa Park was the setting for three group games, kicking off with Argentina’s 2-1 win over Spain.

Temporary seats were installed on the open Witton End terrace for the finals.
