From London to Brighton

From London to Brighton

On this day in 1920, Villa won the FA Cup for the sixth time – then a record – by beating Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the final at Stamford Bridge.

Billy Kirton scored the only goal of the game, and Villa spent the weekend celebrating in London and Brighton – before returning to Birmingham for a Monday evening fixture against Manchester City. The players arrived at Villa Park less than two hours before the 6.30pm kick-off against City, and were beaten 1-0.
