Mother's Day 2016: No.1 Mum competition winner announced

Ahead of Mother's Day, we asked you to send in a picture and a short paragraph about why your Mum should be voted No.1 mum.

The Kingscott family, keen claret and blue followers, got in touch and we were so moved by their two entries, we decided to name them as joint winners.

Antonia, aged 15, selected her mum Sonia, who in turn nominated her mum Christine.

They will enjoy a VIP day out at Villa Park at a game of their choice and will receive hospitality and have pitchside pictures taken to mark their special day.

Antonia wrote this poem about her mum, Sonia:

Mom got me my first season ticket,
at the tender age of two.
She said "It's something we have together,"
We will bleed claret and blue.

I am 15 now and we go home and away,
My dad tags along too.
We are a family of villa crazies,
We are villa through and through.

She is really one in a million,
She does everything for me.
I just want to show how much I love her,
It would mean the world you see.

She always puts other first,
She is always last in line.
But more than anything I want to say,
Thank you mom for being mine.

Mum Sonia, a B6 season ticket holder, then wrote to us about her mum and Antonia's grandmother, Christine.

My mom is my world.

Everyone says that of course, but I went through cervical cancer last year and I was terrified.

With a child of my own going through her GCSE exams I feared the worst.

My mom literally carried me through the treatment and thankfully I got the all clear.

Without her support I would not have got through this, and not for a second did she ever tell me how scared she was herself.

My daughter, my husband and I are all season ticket holders and go away most weeks.

My daughter, through my cancer, was your ball assistant last season and finally managed her dream of playing for West Bromwich Albion, dreaming one day of playing for villa.

I just want to say thank you, she would love the chance to join my daughter and myself at something she knows I love.

She is not one in a million, she is one in a billion.......and some!

Happy Mother's Day from everyone at Aston Villa.
