The Boss: Garde on Stoke loss, lack of attacking power and battling on

Rémi Garde spoke to the press following the 2-1 defeat to Stoke.

His views are below.

On the result…

It's a very difficult defeat.

I think we played quite well in the first half. We defended well.

We created not many chances but we know it's difficult for us at the moment to create chances.

We started the second half too poorly in the first 15 minutes.

We conceded a penalty and then a strange goal.

Then, for me, this is the fragility of the team which we have seen in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

On positives…

We improved the team spirit since the Liverpool defeat.

I think we were on the same level as we were before the Liverpool defeat.

But today we were without attacking power to threaten enough Stoke.

Except the first 15 minutes of the second half, I thought the players did all that they can, to be fair.

On belief…

When you are bottom of the table, it's difficult to play with full confidence.

Week after week, I see individuals make mistakes.

We try to correct that. We try to work hard on that with the players.

On fighting on…

It was such an important game for us today. But we have to keep going.

We have the next match against Everton, which will be difficult and very important too.

Now we are looking at that.

On improvements made…

I would say that today we saw a team that had the spirit, the right spirit, which was not the case in the previous game against Liverpool.

We fell so deeply, so much in that game, that I was expecting something different today.

I saw my team in a better shape regarding this.

On not starting captain Micah Richards…

I have choices to make sometimes when I have enough players to do so.

Micah has played some games.

He hasn't played today but we have three games in a week and I have some players who cannot do so.

Everybody will have his chance.

On the dressing room mood…

You can guess. But we all stick together. The players are sticking all together.

As you can imagine it's a difficult season for the fans, the players, for me.

We have to stay as solid as we can with as much solidarity as we can have.

On the survival fight…

There are still 11 games to play.

Today's results for our direct rivals were not bad for us.

I always say the same. I'm not looking at our rivals.

We can still win enough games to be safe.
