Rudy Gestede is fit to face Stoke this weekend for the first time since coming off in the second half against West Brom at The Hawthorns.

The summer signing has returned to training this week and is in line for the Potters clash.

Rémi Garde also confirmed that Adama Traore is "getting better".

However the winger, signed from Barcelona, won't be ready for the weekend.

He has not featured since coming off late on in the away clash with Sunderland.

Garde revealed that Jack Grealish, Libor Kozak and Carlos Sanchez are also out.

Grealish is struggling with an ankle problem and hasn't featured since coming on as a sub against Man City in the FA Cup.

Kozak also has an ankle problem while Sanchez has a hamstring issue, which flared up in the home win over Wycombe Wanderers.

Meanwhile, Stoke will check on Phil Bardsley (hip), Marc Muniesa (hamstring) and captain Ryan Shawcross (back) ahead of the match, while Geoff Cameron (ankle) and Glen Johnson (knee) are likely to miss out.

Rémi Garde

It would have been better for us to play straight away after this heavy defeat to Liverpool.

But then the fixture was not there.

If you look at the last six Premier League games we played, I think we can almost speak about momentum.

We won two. We drew two. It was a good spell of games.

We have to try to keep that in mind and put it again on the field.

I would prefer now to remember why and how we put the victories on the board.

I am not sure there is a nice place to go in the Premier League to gain points.

Stoke is a very strong side. They have talented players, especially up front. We know it will be difficult.

Of course we will have to defend much better than we did against Liverpool.

Stoke had such a good run previously and then suffered a few defeats to good teams.

But I know it's a very tough place to go. We know it's a very hard game but we have to be prepared for that.

Jordan Veretout

The lads are determined to put the pride back in the badge and show everyone - including our supporters, who have backed us all season - what we are capable of.

We have to show that fight, spirit and belief - that was definitely there in the games before Liverpool.

We know we're in a bad position in the table but we're going to battle for every point and see where that takes us.

We're all very aware that it's a tough challenge but we've not given up on getting over the line and staying up.

To do that, we need to start putting in really good performances - and we're looking for our good run to start on Saturday.

Bojan Krkic

It is true Aston Villa have not got the results they will have expected and it's been an incredibly difficult season for such an historic club.

We faced a very demanding match when we played against them at Villa Park earlier this season - it wasn't an easy match at all - so we expect the exact same when they come to our place on Saturday.

They are in an urgent position and need wins, so they will want the points at the weekend.

They have the players and the will to win this match if we aren't at the top of our game.

We have to show them the respect that they deserve.

We always respect our opponents.
