#GlobalVillans: Chan Hing Lun

In our new feature series, we catch up with Villans across the world.

Next up, we chat to Chan Hing Lun from Hong Kong.

How/where do you watch Villa matches in Hong Kong?

I try to not miss any Villa games.

The normal kick off time in Hong Kong is midnight!

The Lions Club members always go out to watch the game in a bar together.

It is a great feeling to share camaraderie together - to share the happiness when we win and also comfort each other when there is a bad result.

Did you watch Villa when they visited Hong Kong in 2011 for the Barclays Asia Trophy?

I missed the 2011 trip - but I know having spoken to other members that it was great.

Many Hong Kong Villa fans I know actually started following the team after that summer trip.

But I certainly didn't miss the 2014 and 2015 Citibank Hong Kong Sevens, where our youth team come over and played.

There are always lots of Hong Kong Villa fans who support our young lions when they are here - in extremely hot weather!

It's been great to see Jordan Lyden promoted to the first team.

He is such a good player - very hard working on the pitch.

I think he certainly impressed lots of people in Hong Kong during the Sevens tournament.

I am really looking forward to seeing Aston Villa visit Asia again.

Which team do you most enjoy seeing Villa beat?

Definitely Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool.

Lots of my friends support these teams, so beating these teams means so much more.

I really enjoyed when we beat Chelsea in March 2014 at Villa Park - that feeling was unforgettable for me.

Who is your favourite past player and why?

I would say Christian Benteke.

He was a really good powerful player.

I wish to express my gratitude on here to Christian - you were a special player for us.

Thank you for the goals your scored and what you did for us.

Who is your favourite current player and why?

I have to say Jordan Ayew.

He had a tough start to his time at Villa.

However, he found his way and has proved himself.

It is very enjoyable to see him playing hard for us - he has a lot of passion.

He is like a captain in my opinion.

What makes you most proud to be a Villa supporter?

Having so many great people in our Lions Club, who share our love of the club.

Also, our Lions Club chairman Kidd So is a celebrity now!

He had a Villa themed wedding and this was so popular in Hong Kong. Afterwards he did probably more than 15 interviews - and even featured in Four Four Two magazine.

We have a good chairman and great members in our group.

How do you feel about the current situation?

I know it is difficult time for everyone who supports Villa, no matter who are you - if you are a massive fan, normal supporter or just follow a little bit.

No-one wants to see the team go down.

There is still hope for us. We have to play hard.

I have got the faith and believe Villa will be back where we should be sooner rather than later.

Do you have any message to Villa fans around the world and Hong Kong?

The best quote I have ever seen about Villa is from the famous Villa fan David Bradley.

He said 'it is not you who chooses Aston Villa….Aston Villa chooses you'.

That really means a lot to me - I can feel that.

I am so proud to be a Villan! I have never visited Villa Park before. But it still is like a home in my mind.
