Aly Cissokho says Jores Okore is one of the nicest guys you'll meet off the field - but stresses that the centre-half is a nightmare to play against.
Okore has been earning rave reviews from the claret and blue faithful after slotting into the heart of the defence.
And he's drawn praise from Cissokho, who appreciates his stopping quality.
He said: "Jores is a lovely man off the field, one of football's nice guys.
"But on the field, he must be a nightmare to play against. He is so competitive, wants to win every ball, every tackle, every challenge.
"He's been in real top form over the past few weeks and he's deserved the praise he's been getting.
"His quality is there for everyone to see. He's good on the ball, a good reader of the game and he's quick across the field.
"But it's his mentality that impresses me the most. It's this mentality that brings success in sport - a real desire and determination to succeed.
"We've got this mentality in the team. We're desperate to win and if we do lose, we always go down fighting.
"I think the defence has been strong over the past few games - and that's a good platform for success.
"We had good matches against Palace, Leicester, West Brom and against Norwich.
"The clean sheet against Norwich gave us an added boost.
"The good thing is that whoever plays, we trust each other and believe in each other.
"We've had Leandro Bacuna at right-back, Micah Richards too and Alan Hutton also. Ciaran Clark has played centre-half too.
"Whoever the manager selects, we know they will give it everything they've got."
