Joleon Lescott accepts that many people have already written Villa off this season but roared: "We'll make a real fight of it."
Lescott scored the opener as we defeated Norwich 2-0 this past weekend to put us within eight points of safety in the Barclays Premier League.
The veteran defender knows it's still a tall order but stressed that he and the rest of the squad are up for the challenge ahead.
He pointed to his experience - and that of Micah Richards and Gabby Agbonlahor - as vital in the coming weeks as the pressure mounts on those in the lower reaches of the table.
He said: "Everyone has written us off, so we've got nothing to lose.
"If we go down everyone says: 'Well, we knew that in January or February.'
"But we've got a great fighting spirit and we believe that if we show that kind of desire and attitude in every game then we'll make a real fight of it.
"Experience counts for a lot in this game, especially in the Premier League.
"So with the likes of Micah, Gabby and I, our experience can only be good.
"Gabby is certainly an example of that. When he is fit, he's a match for anybody.
"These three points are massive because the games are running out for us to pick up points.
"No disrespect to Norwich but that was a game we believed we could win and we're going to have to win other games like this to get out of trouble."
