FA Youth Cup preview: Young Lions set for B6 Blackburn tie

FA Youth Cup fever is alive and kicking in B6 as our youngsters get set for their fifth round meeting on Monday evening.

They face Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park, kick-off 7pm.

The young claret and blues have already seen off top-flight opposition at Premier League arenas.

They defeated Everton in round three before recording a thumping 5-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last time out.

After two league defeats, an eye-catching 3-2 Bodymoor Heath win over Arsenal courtesy of a brace from Keinan Davies and a Liam Hailey winner means Villa head into the tie full of confidence.

Now on home soil in the cup, coach Ben Petty wants his young charges to embrace the occasion and relish the prospect of showcasing their talent on the big stage.

Petty said: "We head into our game on Monday night knowing that our opponents are going to be very tough after beating Leicester City in the last round who we always find excellent opposition.

"It is another wonderful opportunity for our players to sample Villa Park.

"It's where they all want to get to long-term so it's important that they cope with the surroundings and perform to the best of their ability.

"Blackburn are a very good side, they have some excellent players and we know we will need to be at our best to beat them.

"Our win against Arsenal on Friday has left the group in a very positive frame of mind and now it is about how we recover and prepare for the battle on Monday night.

"We are very much looking forward to it!"

Admission is free for season ticket holders who must use their season cards to gain admittance.

For non-season ticket holders, prices are: £2 [adults] and £1 U18s.

Tickets need to be purchased from the Trinity Road ticket office which is open from 5.30pm to 7.15pm for sales.
