Keinan Davies grabbed a brace as Villa's U18s recorded an impressive win over Arsenal in windy conditions at Bodymoor Heath.
With several senior players missing due to their involvement with U21 action this week, eight first-year scholars started the game.
Attacking with the wind, Villa pinned Arsenal into their own half from the start and took the lead through a well taken goal from Davies.
The Gunners hit back with their first attempt on goal to draw level before the home side deservedly re-took the lead on 40 minutes.
This came courtesy of a fine finish from Davies after excellent link play from Jake Hayes and Kelsey Mooney.
In the second half the claret and blues combated the conditions extremely well and were well in control of the game until a long ball eluded Matija Sarkic and allowed Arsenal to draw level.
With both sets of players tiring in the tough conditions, the claret and blues showed some real character and won the game with a fine individual goal from substitute Liam Hailey.
He drifted in from the right hand side and fired home from 25 yards.
Attentions now turn to Monday's FA Youth Cup tie against Blackburn at Villa Park - kick-off 7pm.
