Rémi Garde wants Villa to seize their 'big opportunity' as they look to extend their five-match unbeaten run.
Villa and high-flying Man City lock horns in B6 on Saturday in an FA Cup fourth round tie.
The boss is pleased with the claret and blues' recent resurgence and hopes another positive showing can inject a further confidence boost into his players.
A date at Wembley is already in the diary for City following their midweek Capital One Cup semi-final win over Everton.
Back in November, Garde's men earned a hard-fought goalless draw against Manuel Pellegrini's men in his first match at the Villa Park helm.
Garde is full of admiration for his managerial counterpart but is determined to put in a strong display in front of the club's loyal faithful.
He said: "Playing against Man City is a big opportunity for us, we have good momentum at the moment.
"It's important for me and the players to keep that momentum - whoever plays that game will need to give their best.
"We're going into the game to keep the momentum.
"I think in my first game we played very well, the defensive side of our game was okay.
"We were a bit lucky at the end of the game.
"Every player worked very hard for the team and I think it was a fair result.
"I have a good memory of this game. I'm not sure this one will be the same. Each one will be very different.
"It will be the most difficult game since we're unbeaten.
"We played Leicester and we had a good game.
"It's hard to compare but we will do our best. It's important for us.
"Being a manager in every club is difficult.
"Manuel has done a great job.
"I have a lot of respect for him as a manager and as a person - the human being is remarkable for me."
Garde has regularly praised the unwavering support of the claret and blue faithful at home and on the road.
Recent positive home displays in the league against Crystal Palace and Leicester has created a feelgoodfactor in B6 and Garde is hoping to entertain the Villa Park faithful on Saturday afternoon.
He added: "The support from the fans has been fantastic for my players.
"I ask my players to fight for every ball.
"It's not just about fighting, it's about the way you play with technique and tactics.
"Hopefully there will be a good communication between the team and the fans."
