The forthcoming edition of the Villa News & Record is a real Villa thriller - thanks to best-selling author and Villa fan Lee Child.

The author of the multi-million selling Jack Reacher series has agreed to be the guest editor for the Leicester City edition of the matchday programme.

Child - real name Jim Grant - was born in Coventry, brought up in Handsworth Wood and is a staunch Villan.

The names of Villa players and managers appearance frequently in his novels - including Graham Taylor as a kidnapper, McGrath and Milosevic as FBI agents, Teale as a corrupt mayor, Yorke as an abandoned mining town in Montana and Ashley Westwood as an Los Angeles-based science journalist.

Child's thrillers have sold more than 70 million copies in 75 countries and have been translated into 40 languages.

Now he is turning his hand to writing about his beloved Villa after agreeing to edit our matchday programme for Saturday's game.

The programme has a special cover inspired by Child's novel 'A Wanted Man' and is packed with brilliant content courtesy of the New York-based writer.

Among the features inside, Child picks his all-time Villa XI, discusses some of his best claret and blue moments and gets the opportunity to interview his boyhood hero Gordon Cowans.
