Match preview: Villa v Crystal Palace

Villa v Crystal Palace
Barclays Premier League
Villa Park
Tuesday January 12 - KO 7.45pm
Referee: Mark Clattenburg

Rémi Garde will be looking for some big results on home soil as the New Year begins at Villa Park with a clash against Crystal Palace.

The manager will be eager for a fine 2016 and nothing would set it off better than with three points against the Eagles.

Alan Pardew's side are riding high in the Barclays Premier League following an impressive first half of the campaign.

But Garde will be plotting a win in the game on Tuesday January 12, kick-off 7.45pm.

Prices are £23 to £37 [adults], £23 to £37 [concessions], £15 to £25 [U18s], £12 to £25 [U8s] and £35 to £40 [adult/junior (U18) combo].

There's also a special offer of two for £40, which is available to supporters in the Holte End Upper Wings (K1, K2, K6 and K7).

Tickets are on general sale for the game.

It is a maximum of six seats per booking - and remember to supply one client reference per seat to build up your booking history.

To buy tickets, contact 0333 323 1874, visit the Ticket Offices at Villa Park and New Street or BUY ONLINE.

Micah Richards looks set to be fit for the Crystal Palace game.

Richards came off against Wycombe in the Emirates FA Cup third round encounter with an ankle problem.

But the skipper should be available to take on Palace in the Barclays Premier League this week.

Alan Hutton and Carlos Sanchez both have hamstring problems so are likely to miss out.

Meanwhile, Palace are without Yannick Bolasie (calf) and Kwesi Appiah (knee).

But forwards Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle could both return from hamstring injuries.

Rémi Garde

We're going to try and find what we put into the West Ham game.

We are going to try and put the same intensity - and the same willingness to win - as we did in that game.

I felt at this time something very special between the fans and the team.

I hope - and it's necessary - to have the same feeling around the next game, for sure.

We are a football team with football players. They have gone through, probably, this kind of situation already.

You have to roll your sleeves up and do the job the best you can.

Palace are doing well. They have a lot of confidence. They are very good players.

For us it will be a tough game, once again.

But I believe we have the possibility, as well, to win this game.

Keith Millen

They are under pressure, they desperately need a win and we're their next game.

We've been there, in the last couple of years, we've unfortunately been near the bottom of league and we've managed to get out of it, so we know what that pressure's like.

You're looking for something in the game to cling on to, that might be the first goal, just something to get the crowd behind them.

We've got to make sure that we're ready for the start of the game, don't give them any sort of encouragement to get their confidence up.

The longer we stay in the game the more chance we have to become the better team and get a result.

Leandro Bacuna

Palace are doing good at the moment.

But we're interested in what we're trying to do.

We have two home games coming up this week now. It could be a turning point for us if we can get that win - a big moment for the team and the players too.

Obviously we're bottom of the table. We know that. But two victories would be huge for us.

We're still right in it. If we could win a few games in a row, it could change everything for us and people would look differently at us.

Joel Ward

I'm feeling good and I think we're a good group and the staff are looking after us.

Training is good and the morale and fitness is going well.

We've had a boost with people coming back from injury and people working their way up to match fitness.

Aly Cissokho couldn't have picked a more difficult time to make his Villa comeback.

The French full-back's appearance in our defeat to Sunderland earlier this month was his first in claret and blue for almost 11 months.

After his loan spell at Porto came to an end, Cissokho is looking to bring fresh impetus to Villa's bid to climb the table.

And he is the subject of our big interview in the Villa News & Record for tonight's clash against Crystal Palace.
