Jordan Veretout is eyeing a New Year boost as we go in search of the points to lift us away from trouble at the foot of the Barclays Premier League table.
It's been a tough start to the season for the claret and blues, lying bottom of the division and 11 points from safety.
But Veretout is still very hopeful of turning the situation around but knows several wins in January will be absolutely key.
Villa face Sunderland away on January 2, Crystal Palace at home on January 12, Leicester at home on January 16 and West Brom away on January 23.
Veretout knows that it needs to be a sparkling month to help the cause.
He said: "There isn't a winter break here, which I was used to in France - but despite this, there is a feeling that January brings about the second half of the season.
"We are now starting the reverse fixtures - playing the teams we have already faced.
"We have to turn things around now - there is no time to waste.
"Hopefully the second half of the season can give us fresh impetus - and perhaps more luck, which I think we have missed.
"We weren't at our best overall against Norwich but if we had scored when we were on top in the first 25 minutes at Carrow Road, I believe the result may have been different.
"We were good against West Ham but just couldn't make that extra breakthrough to win the game.
"Now that's in the past. We must start again, look at it as a new beginning - and hit the ground running.
"If we can produce our best form and win at Sunderland that will give us a huge boost heading into the other games in January.
"If we can have a very productive January, that would set us up for a very exciting end to the season."
