New away kit to be given first senior showing tonight

Villa's first team will wear the new away kit for the first time this evening.

Paul Lambert's outfield men will don white shirts, claret shorts and white socks while the goalkeeper will be in the green kit for the clash with Mansfield at the OneCall Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.

It will be the premier showing of the second strip, which has already proved to be a smash-hit with supporters.

You can look like your heroes by snapping up the away shirt now from all club outlets.

The new away shirt - described by head of merchandising John Greenfield as "the most highly-anticipated in my memory" - is now on sale.

You can snap up the club's away shirt from Villa Village, New Street and our Online Store.

Fans have taken to social media since the unveiling to hail the look of the away shirt.

One of the key factors for the amore surrounding the away shirt is clearly its echoes of the 1982 European Cup success.

The away shirt features a white body with pinstripe design, paying homage to the jersey worn by Villa's Rotterdam heroes.

The kit is brought to you by Macron, our official club kit partner - and the European leader in active sportswear.

Villa worked closely with Macron, who are also partners with Napoli, Lazio and Monaco, to design a new away kit that complemented the longstanding traditions of the club while, at the same time, remaining in the forefront of sports technical fashion.

You can snap it up from our Online Store 24/7, Villa Village which is open until 5pm tonight and New Street which is open until 6pm.

In other news, please be aware that squad numbers will be revealed ahead of the Villa v Parma game on August 9.

That match with the Italian aces will be the first time our senior players will wear their correct numbers for the 2014-15 term.

To avoid frustration and disappointment, club merchandising outlets are not selling shirts with names/numbers at present - although you can have names without numbers or numbers without names.
