#ThePerfectSunday reaction: Icons deliver doorstep delight to fans

Gordon Cowans, Gary Shaw, Tony Morley, Ken McNaught, Kenny Swain and Colin Gibson were heroes in 1982 - and it's fair to say they're just as popular today.

The super six took part in a special #ThePerfectSunday promotion, co-ordinated by Villa in association with DPD.

Over 100 claret and blue fans pre-ordered the away shirt - similar in look to the famous shirt worn in the win over Bayern Munich - so it was appropriate that our Rotterdam legends hit the road to deliver all of them in super-quick time.

There were faces of shock, surprise, glee and downright delight as, one by one, the icons knocked on door after door in areas such as Walsall, Kings Norton, Atherstone, Nuneaton and Sutton Coldfield.

The adults were thrilled to see their heroes - but the kids were just as pleased to meet the men who made history under Tony Barton.

Cowans and Shaw both gatecrashed parties - and also found themselves in penalty shoot-out competitions with excited youngsters.

Our #ThePerfectDay promotion was very popular on social media too - and you can check out our live blog below.
