World Cup 2014: Ron Vlaar's Netherlands keep up 100% record

Ron Vlaar continued his 100% record with Netherlands in the World Cup following the 3-2 win over Australia.

Villa skipper Vlaar once again played 90 minutes in the heart of the defence as the Dutch secured a last-16 place in the most prestigious of football tournaments.

Arjen Robben angled in a shot to put the Dutch ahead, but Tim Cahill soon equalised with a stunning volley.

Mile Jedinak slotted in a penalty for Australia before Robin van Persie lashed home to level it at 2-2.

Mathew Leckie then missed a chance for the Socceroos and Memphis Depay sent in a 25-yard shot for the winner.

Netherlands destroyed holders Spain 5-1 in their opening game and, though they didn't play as well against the Socceroos, they still had enough at the Estadio Beira-Rio in Port Alegre.

Progress to the last-16 was secured after holders Spain were beaten by Chile, who join the Dutch on six points in the group.

The final match for Vlaar's Netherlands is on Monday June 23 as they take on Chile, kick-off 5pm BST at Arena de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo.

Philippe Senderos and Switzerland are back in action on Friday June 20.

Fresh from their last-gasp victory over Ecuador in Group E, the Swiss take on France, kick-off 8pm BST.

The match takes place at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

Ottmar Hitzfeld's side conclude their qualifying campaign with a clash against Honduras.

The 9pm BST encounter takes place at Arena Amazonia, Manaus on Wednesday June 25.

Brad Guzan and the USA will be in buoyant mood after their 2-1 win over Ghana in Group G - and they now face Portugal on Sunday June 22.

The match takes place at Arena Amazonia in Manaus, with an 11pm BST kick-off.

Then it's their final qualifying encounter as they take on Germany on Thursday June 26.

The match takes place on Arena Pernambuco in Recife, with a 5pm BST kick-off.
