Villa Park included in annual Aston Heritage Open Day

Villa will be opening our doors - along with another 11 significant buildings important to the culture of the area - for this year's Aston Heritage Open Day.

The event takes place from 12noon to 4pm on Saturday June 21.

You will get the opportunity to take an exclusive look at our Heritage Zone, a cool new addition to our popular stadium tours.

Villa's glorious and rich history is celebrated in this area, which has marvellous mementos on display, facts and figures in our titanic timeline, a hall of fame and in-depth video clips.

It also has stunning views of the stadium's award-winning pitch.

You can make your way to the North Stand Reception where you will be greeted by our friendly tour guides for the free 15 minute tours.

There will be many free and exciting events for all the family taking place at the other 11 venues across Aston.

These include performances and workshops at The Drum, free access to Aston Hall and activities in Aston Park.

There will be a children's treasure hunt and refreshments at Aston Library, the chance to see the Kajans historic Albert Hall and learn about the Catering College as well as tours of Aston's most iconic religious buildings - Aston Parish Church, Birmingham Jame Masjid Mosque, South Aston Church and Sacred Heart and St Margaret Mary Church.

There are light refreshments at many venues and a free lunch for the first visitors at The Bartons Arms from 12noon.

You can also have the chance to squirt water from a real fire engine at Aston Fire Station!

Aston Manor Transport Museum will also be running a free service on one of their vintage buses, which will offer a unique view of the area and all of the venues.

On the evening, Birmingham Community Gospel Choir will be performing a concert at Aston Parish Church at 700pm - the admission charge of £5 will go to good causes in the area.

Make sure you grab your Aston passport at the first venue you visit.

If you manage to get it stamped by all 12 venues on the day and leave it at the last venue you visit, you will be entered in to a prize draw to win two free tickets to one of our home matches next season (details TBC) or a free season pass to Thinktank and the Birmingham Museums & Art Gallery.
