Joe Cole has given a huge thumbs-up to the acquisition of fellow newboy Philippe Senderos.
Swiss ace Senderos has agreed to join Villa on a two-year deal beginning July 1.
The 29-year-old defender became the first signing by manager Paul Lambert this summer.
Described by Lambert's mentor at Borussia Dortmund, Ottmar Hitzfeld, the Swiss national coach, as a player who has "never disappointed on the pitch", Senderos is relishing his return to the Barclays Premier League and believes his experience will add formidable strength to the Villa defence next season.
Cole is a firm admirer of Senderos and thinks the strong stopper will add knowhow to the claret and blue ranks in the coming years.
He's looking forward to linking up with the former Fulham man when the pair report for pre-season training at the start of next month.
He said: "Philippe is a good signing. He's a good player, no question about that.
"He's experienced - but he's still young.
"He's played at some big clubs like Milan and Arsenal. He's currently competing in his third World Cup for Switzerland. That says a lot in itself.
"Importantly, he's a real leader out there on the pitch and a model professional off the field too.
"It's another senior player that adds to that blend we have of experience and youth."
Make sure you snap up the classy new home kit.
