International review: Weimann sees action in Austria draw

Andreas Weimann played 29 minutes for Austria as they drew 1-1 with Iceland.

The game was played at the Tivoli Neu Stadium in Innsbruck.

Rapid Vienna's Marcel Sabitzer opened the scoring for the hosts on 26 minutes but the visitors equalised just after half-time through Ajax's Kolbeinn Sigthórsson.

Weimann came on in the 61st minute for Austria skipper Marc Janko.

Both Austria and Iceland failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil so are keeping themselves occupied ahead of the start of their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, which begins in September.

Weimann's Austria finished in third place in Group C of World Cup qualifying behind Sweden and group winners Germany.

There are two Villans in action today.

Ciaran Clark is with Republic of Ireland as they take on Italy in a friendly at Craven Cottage, kick-off 7.45pm.

Ron Vlaar is with the Netherlands as they face Ghana at 7.30pm in the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam.

On Sunday June 1, Brad Guzan is back in action, with USA facing Turkey, kick-off 7pm at the Red Bull Arena at New Jersey.

On Tuesday June 3, Weimann's Austria face Czech Republic at the Andruv Stadium in Olomouc, kick-off 7pm.

On Wednesday June 4, Vlaar is back in action for the Dutch as they face Wales at the Amsterdam Arena, kick-off 7pm.

On Friday June 6, Clark's Ireland face Costa Rica in PPL Stadium, Philadelphia, kick-off 3pm.
