Ron Vlaar and Brad Guzan are a step closer to reaching the World Cup after Holland and USA named their provisional squads for the summer showpiece.
Vlaar has made Dutch boss Louis van Gaal's initial 30-man party, alongside the likes of Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, Galatasaray star Wesley Sneijder and Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben.
The Villa skipper was a regular in the Holland squad during World Cup qualification and will be hopeful of making the final cut for Brazil.
The squad list will be trimmed to 23 on June 2 after Holland's warm-up fixtures against Ecuador and Ghana.
The Dutch kick off their World Cup campaign against holders Spain on June 13 in a rematch of the 2010 final.
Oranje then face Australia in Porto Alegre before taking on Chile in Sao Paulo.
Another Villa man close to booking his ticket to Brazil is goalkeeper Guzan.
The Villa custodian looks set to reach his second World Cup finals tournament after being named in USA's provisional 30-man list.
Guzan - an unused squad member in South Africa four years ago - is included alongside fellow keepers Tim Howard of Everton and Nick Rimando from MLS side Real Salt Lake.
Jurgen Klimsnann's team will prepare for the tournament with a two-week training camp at Stanford University in California before playing Azerbaijan in San Francisco on May 27, Turkey on June 1 in New Jersey, Nigeria in Jacksonville on June 7 and Belgium in Sao Paulo on June 12.
The group stage of the World Cup sees the USA face Ghana, Portugal and Germany.
