Boss Joe Hunt insists Villa Ladies are "really hurting" as they look to get over their 5-0 away defeat to Notts County Ladies.
The opening Continental Cup clash saw the Super League 1 leaders take on Hunt's claret and blue women.
And Hunt paid tribute to County, saying they were in "tremendous" form on the night.
He said: "It was a very disappointing night for us but, first of all, we must give credit to Notts County Ladies.
"For 45 minutes they were tremendous and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit it.
"They played with purpose, quality and had an unbelievable desire to stop us playing. They will do well this season. They are a very impressive team.
"As for us, we are all hurting.
"The management, coaches and players do not like losing, especially in that way.
"At times we cause our own problems. We fail to do the basic things in football and we're going through a spell where we get punished for it.
"But at this level that's what it's about. They get a chance and they take it.
"To lose a goal after two minutes was hard to take but we had a decent recovery, with a few opportunities and Katy Moran hit the woodwork.
"On another day that might fly in and then we're at 1-1. But it's just not happening for us.
"We were four-down at half time so then it became damage limitation. In the second half we did well.
"County might have dropped off slightly but we were a lot better all-round the pitch.
"We sound like a broken record but if we can take our second half performances and make it last 90 minutes then we'll be fine.
"We're in a rut at the moment and we need to get out of it fast.
"The management staff all have a hand in team selection so the buck stops here. We know that.
"We'll be in on Thursday to work hard again on the training pitch. There are some tired legs at the moment, with two games in four days. It takes a lot out of the players but we'll recover quickly and prepare for our trip to Yeovil on Sunday."
Villa Ladies travel to Yeovil Ladies on Sunday for the next Continental Cup match at Sherborne Town, with a 2pm kick-off.
