Marc Albrighton says the Southampton point was a "huge relief" to the claret and blue camp - as he called on the players to use their "positive energy" in the Swansea clash this weekend.
Albrighton believes it was vital that Villa stopped the run of four straight defeats with the 0-0 result.
And he insists that a draw against the Saints should not be underestimated - at any point in a season!
Now, he says, it's about using the belief and confidence at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.
He said: "The mood is good.
"Southampton was a massive point - and a huge step in the right direction.
"The results in the last few games before that weren't acceptable.
"To stop that run of defeats was vital.
"Southampton are a very good side, it's well worth pointing that out.
"In the second half, in particular, we stood up to them and got in their faces. We gave it a go. We thoroughly deserved the point.
"Any point you pick up against anyone, anywhere is huge at this stage of the season.
"You just have to look at where we are in the table at the moment. We don't want to be there but we are and we have to be responsible and pick up the results to push us up.
"Now we must take that positive energy into the next game.
"It will be a really tough match. They are right next to us in the table.
"Whoever gets the points on the day will be over the moon. We have to make sure it's us."
