Brad Guzan says fellow goalkeeper Shay Given's knowledge, professionalism and infectious personality make him a positive addition to the Villa coaching staff.
Guzan knows the qualities of the Irishman better than most having formed a close bond as part of the Bodymoor Heath keeper's union.
And he is pleased to see Given imparting his qualities to the rest of the squad in his new role in Paul Lambert's coaching team.
"It has been really good," Guzan told AVTV.
"I've been fortunate to work with Shay on a day-to-day basis.
"It has been good to have him work with other players as well.
"His CV speaks for itself in terms of what he has done in the game.
"He is a true professional in every sense of the word and to have him work with the boys is really good.
"To top it off he is a likeable guy. He is a good to have in the dressing room.
"He is someone who keeps the spirit up and brings the light-heartedness that you sometimes need in important and sometimes stressful situations.
"So he is a big person that we are going to need going forward."
Guzan insists the 38-year-old has the coaching acumen to go with his bubbly personality.
The USA international has learned from his experienced colleague over the past three seasons.
"He has been fantastic for me personally and now I'm just happy the rest of the team and other people can see the value that he brings," added Guzan.
"We all know the ability of Shay Given the goalkeeper but he understands the game too.
"He is able to read the game and I think he is able to translate those situations into coaching tips and help on the management side of things."
